A plain breakdown of what Kharcha collects, where it's stored, how its ads fit in, and exactly how to delete your data, written to match Google Play's Data Safety section and the app's own Permissions Declaration.
Kharcha's core job, reading SMS and building a spending record, doesn't collect data in the way that term is normally used: it never leaves your device, isn't transmitted to any server, and isn't shared with the developer or anyone else. Separately, the app shows ads to stay free, and the advertising service used for that collects a small amount of technical data, described below. The two are kept apart by design.
Both of these are processed and stored exclusively in the app's private storage on your device, using Android's standard app sandboxing. Neither is ever sent to a server, shared with the advertising service, or shared with anyone else.
Kharcha is free to use and is supported by ads. To select and measure those ads, the advertising service integrated into the app may collect an advertising identifier along with basic technical information such as device type and general region. This is standard for any ad-supported app and is handled entirely by the advertising service, not by Kharcha's own code, which never passes it your SMS content or spending data.
Kharcha requests the INTERNET permission for one purpose only, requesting and displaying ads. No other part of the app, including SMS reading, parsing and the spending data it produces, uses that connection or transmits anything over it.
Your spending data is retained on your device for as long as the app is installed, or until you clear specific records inside the app. There is no server-side copy of it to describe a retention period for. Any advertising identifier is managed by Android and the advertising service according to their own retention practices, independent of Kharcha.
Because everything Kharcha stores lives in the app's local storage, deleting it is entirely in your hands and takes effect immediately:
There's no waiting period. No request needs to be sent to us for your spending data to be deleted, because we never had a copy to delete on our end in the first place.
To reset the advertising identifier associated with your device, use Android's own setting under Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID. That's handled by Android itself, independent of Kharcha.
Kharcha does not use accounts, sign-in, or any form of user identity. There is nothing to deactivate or close beyond removing the app itself.
If a future version of Kharcha ever changes how data is handled, that change will be described here first, with an updated date at the top of the page, before it ships.
